Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon table salt
  • Whole milk for serving

Directions

In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt, and whisk to combine well. Store the mixture in an airtight container.

For individual servings, pour 1 cup whole milk into a microwave-safe mug, and microwave on high just until hot. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa mix, and stir to dissolve. For a larger batch of cocoa, warm the milk in a saucepan set over medium-low heat, taking care not to let the milk boil; as it warms, stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk.

it was good and chocolatey i wish that there was a recipe for less becaue i had to figure out how much salt to put in for 1/4 of coco powder and 1/2 c of suger so there wasent to much or to little but it turned out great my family loved it since its cold outside right before dinner to help everyone calm down to eat and go to bed

We just came back from a trip to NYC where we were treated to some delicious hot chocolate since it was a cold November and I was bound and determined to find a good homemade recipe for it when I got home. I was shocked to find a recipe with only 3 ingredients but I love easy so I gave it a shot and it was a hit! Very chocolaty and with the whole milk, very rich and creamy as well. The only additions I made were adding marshmallows on top and a peppermint candy. So yummy!!! Merry Christmas to all.

For once in my life I followed the powder directions to the "T"! However the only change I did make was using water instead of milk, since I am Lactose Intolerant. I would also recommend using coffee for a mocha, added the mix to my coffee this morning and it made a very good Mocha. I did find the mixture a little sweet for me personally but the chocolate flavor is on point! My fiance did say that it needed to be sweeter but that just shows personal taste differences. I am actually giving this mix away as Christmas gifts this year to my Niece's, Nephew, and as a part of the white elephant gift at the grandparents house. Yes I will be printing the recipe from the website so that Martha gets all the credit.

My son and I wanted hot chocolate but only had one packet left. I went on the internet to find a homemade recipe and this one popped up. Disaster averted! It's delicious! Better than store-bought, and it mixes in better with milk because it doesn't have all the fake ingredients. This also has to be much cheaper, as it makes quite a bit. I add a few peppermint Hershey kisses to the mug. My favorite winter treat.

I was looking to make a small batch, so I just changed the measurements from cups to tablespoons. 3T sugar, 2T cocoa and a pinch of salt. I used one T per mug's worth of milk. It was awesome!

This recipe will only be as good as the quality cocoa you use so there is that. I used Frontier Fair Trade Organic Dutch Processed Unsweetened Cocoa, which is fairly high quality, to make mine and it was fantastic. I cut the recipe in half and only used 1.5 Tbs per 8 oz milk because the full two was chocolate overload. I used table salt and granulated sugar like the recipe called for. It was neither too sweet or too salty. I scald my milk on the stove. I also add a drop of vanilla paste. Yummy!

Very salty. I thought it lacked the chocolate taste. I used powdered sugar. So I added more chocolate and sugar to balance it out. Not impressed at all.

I was craving hot chocolate and ran out of my stash. I decided to Google how to make it home made and I am never buying store bought mix again! I split the recipe in half since there are only 2 of us living here. And I added some cinnamon and nutmeg to add spice. Delicious. I think it would be tasty with less sugar if one prefers.

I would imagine that this recipe should say "unsweetened cocoa", therefore the need to reduce the amount of sugar is unnecessary, as a few people said. If you use sweetened cocoa then you would naturally reduce the amount of sugar. Also, it calls for "sugar", not "powdered sugar". Wouldn't that just be a matter of preference?

Pretty tasty and super easy to make. Much sweeter than store bought, so I would recommend decreasing the sugar about 1/2 a cup if you aren't a fan of super sweet.

I just made a batch of this Coco Mix and it is truly a perfect mix. Very simple to make and as natural as it can be made.

It would be wise to use a premium coco powder when making this. I made mine with Organic Green & Black's Cocoa Powder. Make sure you use powder sugar when making this.

                Enjoy!
