Ingredients
- 1 pound unsalted mixed nuts (3 cups) 3/4 cup minced candied ginger 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 2 teaspoons coarse salt 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper 2 tablespoons sesame seeds 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup water
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine nuts, candied ginger, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and sesame seeds. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium-high. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves, 3 minutes.
Pour sugar syrup over nut mixture and toss well to combine. Arrange in a single layer on a parchment-lined rimmed baking sheet. Bake until nuts are golden, 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let cool completely on sheet on a wire rack before breaking into bite-size pieces.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 10/10/2019 This is my third or fourth time making this recipe. I follow it to the letter and am happy every time. I've served it as a snack at Thanksgiving; sent it as a gift at Christmas; and, I just made it today for guests we're having over during this blustery Minnesota weekend. Martha Stewart Member Rating: 4 stars 05/14/2016 This was super easy and delicious. The cayenne was barely noticeable so I will add a teeny tad more next time. Also, a little more sugar syrup would have been better, especially to have the sesame seeds adhere to the larger nuts (I used a mix of pecans, almonds and cashews). Overall, an excellent recipe. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 12/09/2011 I took these to a holiday party and everyone loved them !! I had a 2.7oz. jar of crystallized ginger in my pantry, so just used that amountMartha Stewart Member
