Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled 2 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup milk 2 large eggs 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted Maple syrup and butter, as desired, for serving
Directions
Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk milk and eggs; pour over flour mixture, and whisk gently to combine (don’t overmix). Gently whisk in butter.
Following manufacturer’s instructions, cook waffles until deep brown and crisp. (For a standard waffle iron, pour a generous 1/2 cup of batter into center, spreading to within 1/2 inch of edges, and close; waffle will cook in 2 to 3 minutes.) Serve warm, with maple syrup and butter, as desired.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5.0 stars 10/28/2020 Loved this recipe, simple technique, on hand ingredients. My son is a very picky person, tastes all imperfections, and sensitive to over seasoning and sweetness. He loved this waffle and asked me to save the recipe, Which he has never done before Martha Stewart Member Rating: 2.0 stars 10/10/2020 I would not recommend 2 eggs! One egg is all you need, it took away from the fluffiness and was just too much w 2 I always use just 1, but decided to give 2 a try like the recipe called for, and my family definitely could tell the difference I won’t do that again! Unless using 2 cups flour! Martha Stewart Member Rating: 2.0 stars 09/17/2020 Terrible waffle recipe! Really bad consistency of the batter, pretty messy, and it made only four waffles. Not impressed Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5.0 stars 04/14/2020 This was such an easy 5 minute recipe to follow. Perfect quarantine recipe. My boyfriend absolutely loved it. Definite must try. Quick and easy and perfect results!!! Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5.0 stars 04/04/2020 My family loved, loved, loved these waffles. Even my 9 month baby girl ate almost half of one. Only thing I added to it was a splash of vanilla. Will be my go to waffle recipe for now on. Thank you Martha! Martha Stewart Member Rating: 3.0 stars 02/10/2020 Very easy recipe and it doesn’t make too many. I added approx. 1/4 more cup of flour and into the liquid ingredients I added 1 tsp vanilla. The recipe doesn’t specify milk so I used a mix of 2% and whole. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 08/22/2019 This has become my "go to" waffle recipe. No more separating eggs, whipping whites, and folding them in so carefully. Ms. Stewart's recipe is easy, quick, and never fails to satisfy. It is difficult making enough to please everyone. Martha Stewart Member Rating: 4 stars 08/19/2018 I doubled this recipe so I could freeze some for later. They turned out quite eggy with 4 eggs, similar to Swedish pancakes, but I LIKED THAT! Next time I might try using one less egg to see how they turn out for me. Still, delicious! **Just a side note to those who find the video and all that extra stuff around the recipe a little much - I click on the PRINT icon and use that version. I don't necessarily print it but it shows up nice, neat and easier to read. Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 03/24/2018 All work very well, thank you. Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 01/04/2018 The recipe is perfect! They're not too dense and have a great taste from the butter inside. I make these for my toddler all the time and she loves them, even though she can be pretty picky! They also get a really nice colour! Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 12/06/2017 it was perfect Martha Stewart Member Rating: 4 stars 10/31/2017 These waffles were excellent. The batter made 2 large Belgian -styled Waffles. I substituted Almond Milk and added 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. I had some Vermont Maple syrup my son gifted me , Lovely grass fed butter , and Omega 3 Cage free eggs for the recipe and I was SO happy! One thing I noticed, the Waffles took a while to cook through, not 1 or 2 minutes, more like 5 or 6 minutes, perhaps the setting on my waffle iron. Thank u for this recipe Martha, I bookmarked it and will continue to make it Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 06/24/2017 I have tried a lot of your recipes but have never written in. I had to about these waffles. My dad usually does not eat them cause I usually do the aunt jemima box mix. I did this recipe this morning and everyone ate them even my dad. So never again the box mix. They were so fluffy and light and delicious. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 03/16/2017 I hate making making waffles: separate eggs, beat whites to soft peaks, fold in, etc. This recipe takes all the pain away and the end product was great, frozen, and toasted. A BIG hit and cheaper than store bought processed product. I did use old baking powder so I used more than required ... got a big rise and very fluffy. Thank you Martha~! Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 02/11/2017 Easy to make, light, fluffy and delicious!! Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 05/30/2016 Dear Martha Stewart.com, I completely understand having a video is sometimes helpful when making a new recipe. I find it absolutely ridiculous that you can't rid of the video when you don't need it. If I pause it, and scroll past it, the video then covers up the ingredients list. If I let the video play, thinking it will go away, it doesn't. It just loops. Stop it already. Have them for guidance but allow people to get rid of them if need be. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 04/08/2016 I plan to reduce the sugar to 1TB in the future. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 04/08/2016 ?? Making waffles with beaten egg whites you fold in at the end is indeed "better," and stretches the batter to = more waffles but it's way too much effort & dirty bowls to clean up afterward for a quick breakfast, that's why this recipe exists with a label of Easy! Like everyone I worried that the batter looked too runny, but it wasn't, it cooked up perfectly! I recommend making certain you beat the eggs really well & use fresh baking powder, I bet that affected commenters who reported issues. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 10/04/2015 Just made this recipe for today's breakfast! Delicious and tastes just like waffles I've had at restaurants! Thank you Martha! Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 01/18/2015 18-Jan-2015. Great waffle recipe, thanks Martha! Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 03/13/2014 Eggy and buttery. Crispy and fluffy. Taste like crêpes. Wonderful with strawberries and cream. Thanks for another great meal. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 02/22/2014 Very light and very good. The best! Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 06/21/2013 OMG!!!!! The best homemade waffles ever..... I from Brasil and I made today for dinner. I had mine with syrup and my husband with cheese! We loved this recipe, it's really soft and not heavy!!! Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 01/12/2013 The best wafflez I've yet to make. Plus, I added bacon crumblez to my batter. "Ahhhh, FREAK OUT!!!" Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 12/01/2010 Do not overmix. Perhaps follow the suggestion of separating the egg whites. Mine came out flimsy. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 01/13/2008 try separating eggs, fold beaten eggs whites into batter at endMartha Stewart Member
