  • 1 medium cucumber, scrubbed well 2 quarts spring water

Directions

Remove strips of cucumber skin, creating 1/2-inch-wide alternating bands of peeled and bare cucumber. Trim and discard ends. Halve cucumber lengthwise; cut into 1/2-inch slices. Combine cucumber and water in large pitcher; steep for 1 hour, and serve over ice.

Martha Stewart Member     Rating: 1 stars       04/26/2015   I HATE plain cucumber in water and HATE the fact that restaurants are doing it in lieu of lemon. Maybe with something else in addition to the cucumber, but plain cucumber sliced into the water just makes it taste nasty. Please STOP putting cucumber in my water. I always have to ask the poor waiter to bring me plain water.

I HATE plain cucumber in water and HATE the fact that restaurants are doing it in lieu of lemon.
