Ingredients
- 1 package (12 ounces) cranberries, fresh or frozen (no need to thaw)
- 3 cups seedless red grapes
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Directions
In a large saucepan over medium-high, bring cranberries, grapes, sugar, and 1/2 cup water to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer until most of the cranberries have popped and grapes are falling apart, 10 to 15 minutes.
Remove from heat; add salt and stir to combine. Let cool to room temperature (compote will thicken as it cools). Serve at room temperature.

I first got this recipe when I was in the audience at the Martha Stewart Show when it was on network tv, several years ago. What a fun time! This is the easiest and best tasting cranberry compote to compliment any turkey dinner. I put it together 2 days earlier than when I plan on serving. This allows the flavors to meld. I'm thinking of adding some orange zest and a splash of bourbon. I also mash up the compote some as its coming together if the cranberries or grapes don't all burst.

This simple and easy recipe has become a staple for the holidays. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of orange zest. Our family enjoys it so much that I will throw a couple of bags of cranberries in the freezer when they are in season and make this compote year round.

Amazing! I don't generally like cranberry sauce (too tart) but this was excellent. Sweet and yummy. I made it the Saturday b4 Thanksgiving. It was a hit in my house of non cranberry lovers.

Back by popular demand for Christmas morning at home (over pumpkin hotcakes) and dinner with extended family (as a side dish). Love it!

This recipe is so quick and easy to make! It's so refreshing to have a big bite of tart yet sweet cranberry sauce in between the heaviness of Thanksgiving dinner. This is a favorite already.

This is my favorite cranberry sauce recipe. Something about the grapes makes it special. I made it for Thanksgiving 2006 and throughout the year. I've added a thinly sliced orange and 1/4 c. diced dried apricots to the mixture and it is delicious.

I made this last Thanksgiving also and everyone loved it. I like that you don't have to add as much sugar as plain cranberry sauce.

I used this recipe last Thanksgiving and my family begged me to make it again. It's especially great if you don't like cranberry sauce... even my picky dad likes it!

This is a really great recipe for cranberry compote. I made it last year for Thanksgiving and started having requests for it a month before this Thanksgiving! I also put some aside less the sugar for my diabetic Dad and used a small amount of sugar substitute - he loved it! It is super easy to make and can be made well ahead of the big day.

This is so easy to make and is the best tasting cranberry sauce our family has eaten. It will soon become a family tradition as it is made again and again.
