Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream 5 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar 26 chocolate wafers 3 bananas, thinly sliced lengthwise, plus 1/2 banana, sliced into rounds

Directions

In a small saucepan, bring cream to a boil over medium-high. Remove from heat and add chocolate. Let sit 5 minutes. Add confectioners’ sugar and whisk to combine. Let cool to room temperature.

Layer 13 chocolate wafers in a 2-quart baking dish. Add half the chocolate mixture, then top with lengthwise banana slices. Top with 13 more cookies and remaining chocolate mixture. Cover and refrigerate until pudding is set and cookies are tender, about 2 hours (or up to 1 day). Top with round banana slices and serve.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 03/08/2018 It was a bit soupy--but it was incredibly delicious, and I look forward to making it again. My family absolutely loved it. I served it with a bit of coffee ice cream. So, so good, and so easy.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 09/28/2014 I read the recipe, WATCHED the video, read the reviews. I still went ahead and ended up with what everyone else described. A soupy mix of chocolate wafers , bananas, and wafer cookies. It was delicious, but unless someone can tell me what Sarah did differently (it looked perfect in the video), I won't be making this again!

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 06/15/2014 This recipe is good, but they forgot to add a thickener to the recipe as it was still soupy after chilling. I added 2T corn starch and a touch of salt to it. It was much better.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 09/07/2013 I should have read the reviews first, they were absolutely correct in that the recipe did not come out as pictured. It was much paler, and very "soupy" in texture. I am an experienced pastry chef who followed the recipe to the letter. After pouring the thin mixture after chilling for 8 hours into a smaller dish and adding additional chocolate wafers to thicken, it did thicken enough to serve. With whipped cream on top it looked fine. The good news, it was delicious. Need to test recipes Martha!

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 08/29/2012 The reason its soupy is because the ganache("pudding") ratio is wrong. Ganache is equal parts cream and chocolate. 5 oz isn't enough. Its a good dessert idea though, just make chocolate pastry cream and then layer with cookies and bananas.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 07/21/2012 What they're calling "pudding" is basically just ganache with a small amount of powdered sugar. Maybe that's what all the difficulty comes from.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 06/09/2012 Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews before I made this. The picture looked so good and recipe seemed simple. The result - bananas in soup. Acornworld is right - aren't these recipes tested???

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 08/13/2011 Why aren't these recipes tested??? You're right, no eggs, flour, anything to hold it except the chocolate. It wasn't as dark as the photo either. Am going to try and fix it with thickening!!

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 06/13/2011 dOES NOT WORK. nOTHING TO BIND IT, LIKE EGGS OR CORNSTARCH.
