This was a little strong for me. I changed it to 1 oz of each, a dash of nutmeg, and 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream instead of ice

You are correct, this is not a Brandy Alexander, not even an ice cream one. I too love Brandy and have a great recipe for a Wisconsin Cranberry Brandy Slush! My MIL who does not enjoy Liquor of any kind, fell in love with it too! But I am trying this tonight after drinking my Brandy Sour with my Husband. I prefer Brandy other ways, never thought with ginger ale...on my list thanks.

I have been drinking Brandy Alexanders since college in the 70's and this is not the recipe. This is the recipe for a Dirty White Mother (hey, I didn't name it,,LOL) A Brandy Alexander is made with brandy, creme de cocao and milk or cream (and/or chocolate ice cream). Try brandy in coffee, brandy in hot chocolate, brandy in coke, or even ginger ale. I LOVE BRANDY!
